Creating Trial Memberships
Based on the type of trial memberships your facility offers, there are different ways to build your trials in Pulse. The two most common trial options that are covered in this article are unlimited week/month trials and initial class/class pack trials.
In an unlimited week/month trial the member is able to take as many classes as they want during the specified time period. With an initial class/class pack trials, the member has a set number of class credits they can sign up for whenever they choose.
Creating a Trial Roster
To keep track of attendance for your trial members, it is a good idea to create a Trial Roster. To navigate to the Rosters page, click on the Settings icon and then click on Rosters under the Global section.
From the Rosters page, you will click on the New Roster button to create your trial roster. The most important aspect of setting up your trial roster is selecting which classes you want contacts in this trial to be able to sign up for. Make sure that in the Classes field you select all of the classes that trial members can sign up for.
Once your trial roster is ready to go, click on the Create Roster button.
Creating an Unlimited Week/Month Trial
If the trial offer at your studio is for an unlimited membership for a week or month, you will want to create a membership group specifically for this offer. To navigate to the Membership page, click on the Settings icon and then select Membership Templates from under the Global section.
On the Membership Templates page, click on the Create Group button. When creating the group for these trials you will want to make sure you leave the attendance limit and class credits fields blank. This will allow members on this trial to sign up for as many classes as they want while in the membership.
You will also want to assign either your general waiver or a trial specific agreement to this membership so contacts can sign any important legal documents before they come in for class.
When your Membership group is complete click on the Create Membership Group button.
Now that you have a group specific to your unlimited trial offer you can create pricing options within this group. You could build out different length trials or trial offers that vary in price within this group. To create a pricing option click on the Create Pricing Option button from the main Membership Templates page.
To build your trial offer you will follow the same steps as normal pricing options, however there are a few key differences to note. On the Basic Information tab you will want to make sure you assign this pricing option to the Trial Membership Group. You will also want to check whether or not you want this trial to show up on your public group page where people can sign up for it.
On the After-Sign Up page you will want to assign users in this membership to your Trial Roster. You also can add tags to any users who sign up for this membership.
On the Billing Cycles page you will select Trial Membership for the Membership Type. For the Payment Frequency, if it is a 1 week trial you will select weekly and if it is a month long trial you will select Monthly. In the Membership Length field you will want to put a 1, indicating that it is only 1 week/month long.
Further down on the Billing Cycles page you will leave the Number of Payments field blank. You will also want to leave the auto-renew option unchecked. If your trial is free you can leave both the Price and Down Payment fields set to 0.
Once your pricing option for your trial offer is ready to go, click the Save button at the bottom of the page.
Creating a Trial Class/Class Pack Offer
If the trial offer at your studio is a free/discounted first class or first few classes, you will want to create a membership group specifically for this offer. To navigate to the Membership page, click on the Settings icon and then select Membership Templates from under the global section.
On the Membership Templates page, you will click on the Create Group button. When creating the group you will enter in the Class Credits field how many classes a member can sign-up for with this trial. If the offer is for a single free class, you will enter 1 in the Class Credits field.
You will also want to assign either your general waiver or a trial specific agreement to this membership so contacts can sign any important legal documents before they come in for class.
When your Membership group is complete click on the Create Membership Group button.
