What does each trigger do?
What does each trigger do?
When creating a trigger you have to identify what action will cause that trigger to fire. Listed below are all of the current options you have to choose from for actions that can activate triggers. Each option is listed with an explanation to clarify what that action would look like in your Pulse system.
Person: Age
This action occurs when one of your contacts reaches a certain age. When you select this option, a field will appear asking what age you want to set off this trigger.
For example, if you have separate rosters for kids and adults, you could create a trigger to change the member’s roster when they turn 18.
Person: Birthday
This action occurs on the birthday of a contact in your Pulse system. You can specify whether you want this action to activate a trigger a specific number of days before or after the contact’s birthday.
For example, if your member Lucy had a birthday on April 3rd, you could set up a trigger to be activated 3 days before her birthday on March 31st sending her a free guest pass to use on her birthday.
Person: Attends a Number of Classes
This action occurs when a member reaches a class milestone, like their 100th class. With this action, you can select which classes count towards this class counter and you will specify how many classes the member must attend to set off this trigger.
A member will only hit this milestone once, the class counter will not reset after they reach the number you indicated.
For example, you could specify that a trigger goes off once your member takes their 5th BJJ class.
Person: Attended a Class
This action occurs every time a member is checked into a class. You can specify which classes this action includes.
For example, you could use this action to send a check-in confirmation text to a member every time they attend a BJJ class.
Person: Last Seen in Class
This action occurs when a contact who previously attended a class has not attended a class for a specific number of days. When you select this option you will need to specify after how many days this action initiates the trigger. You will also need to select which classes this action applies to.
For example, you can set a trigger to send a message once it has been 7 days since a member last attended a BJJ class.
Person: Booked a Class
This action occurs every time someone books a class. Once you select this option you can choose which classes you want to set off this trigger.
For example, you could make a trigger that sends a confirmation text every time someone books a Kids Karate class.
Person: Membership Created
This action occurs when someone signs up for a membership. Once you select this option, you select which memberships, in particular, set off this trigger.
For example, you could send yourself a notification every time someone signs up for a Kids Karate membership.
Person: Membership Expiring
This action occurs when a membership is getting close to expiring. Once you select this option, you will indicate how many days before a membership is supposed to expire that you want the trigger to be activated. You will also specify which memberships you want to set off this trigger.
For example, you could send a member an email offering to renew their unlimited BJJ membership 30 days before the membership expires.
Person: Membership Status is Active
This action occurs when someone whose membership status was Paused changes back to Active status. You can select which memberships you want to set off this trigger.
For example, you could send a welcome back text to a member after they unpause their BJJ membership.
Person: Membership Status is Expired
This action occurs when a contact whose membership status was Active changes to expired. You can select which memberships you want to set off this trigger.
For example, you could assign someone to the ‘previous member’ phase when their membership expires.
Person: Membership Status is Paused
This action occurs when a contact whose membership status was Active changes to Paused. You can select which memberships you want to set off this trigger.
For example, you could send yourself a notification to alert you when someone’s membership changes to Paused status.
Person: Opted In
This action occurs when a new contact is added to your Pulse system. This is not specific to which program they opted in for. If you want to add people to specific campaigns based on the program they are interested in, you will need to use the "Tag Added" trigger instead.
For example, you could assign the Lead phase to a contact when they opt-in to marketing.
Person: Opted Out
This action occurs when a contact indicates that they no longer want to be marketed to. When someone opts out you could set a trigger to send a ‘We’re sorry to see you go’ text.
Person: Phase Changed
This action occurs when a contact’s phase changes. Once you select this action you will specify what phase a contact needs to previously have been in and what phase they will change to in order to activate this trigger.
For example, you could set a trigger to your active member campaign when a contact’s phase changes from lead to member.
Person: Purchased a Product
This action occurs when anyone purchases a product through your point of sale. You can specify which products you want to set off this trigger.
For example, you could send a text about how to take care of your Gi after someone purchases a Gi.
Person: Rank Gained
This action occurs when a contact is promoted to a new rank. You can select specific ranks that are earned to set off this trigger.
For example, you could send a text that says “Congratulations on your Black Belt!” when a member is promoted to black belt.
Person: Tag Added
This action occurs when a tag is added to a contact’s profile. Once you select this option you will have the ability to specify which tag you want to initiate this trigger. Because you can set tags to be automatically added to a contact’s profile when they sign up for a membership or opt-in to marketing for a program, this is a good action to use when adding people to a specific campaign.
For example, you could add someone to your Kids Karate member campaign after the Kids-Karate-member tag gets added to their profile.
Person: Tag Removed
This action occurs when a specific tag is removed from a contact’s profile. Once you select this action you will have the ability to specify which tags you want to initiate this trigger.
For example, you could create a trigger for when the interested-in-adult-bjj tag is removed from a contact’s profile that would then remove the contact from the Adult BJJ lead campaign.
Person: Task Added
This action occurs anytime a staff member is assigned a new task. This option could be used to send that staff member a message when they have a new task added.
Person: Time as a Type
This action occurs when a contact has been in a particular phase for a specific amount of time. Once you select this option you will be able to specify the phase and the length of time spent in that phase that will initiate this trigger.
For example, you could set a trigger to text a contact after they have been in the past trial phase for 30 days.
