What does each trigger action do?
Actions Caused by Triggers
When creating a trigger, you’ll specify what action(s) you want to occur when the trigger is activated. Listed below are all of the actions that you can set off with a trigger:
Send notification email
This action will send a notification email to one specific email address every time the trigger is fired. Once you select this action you will provide the email address you want the notification sent to.
“Send notification email” could be used if you want to receive an email notifying you whenever someone signs up for a membership.
Send notification SMS
This action will send a notification via SMS to one specific phone number whenever the trigger is fired. Once you select this action you will provide a phone number for the notification to be sent to.
“Send notification SMS” could be used to notify you when a new trial offer is purchased.
Add Person to a Campaign
This action will add the contact whose action initiated this trigger to a specific campaign.
For example, if Jenny Smith signed up for a membership, which set off this trigger, she would be the person added to a campaign.
Remove Person from a Campaign
This action will remove the contact who initiated the trigger from the campaign you select. Once you select this action you will be able to select a specific campaign to remove them from.
For example, if Jenny Smith cancels her membership, which triggered this action, she would be removed from the Adult Kickboxing Current Member campaign.
Add a note to a user
This action adds a note to the contact’s profile. You will write out the content for this note in the ‘Add a Note to User’ field.
Assign a phase to a user
This action will change a contact’s phase. Once you select this option you will select what phase you want them to be moved to when the trigger occurs.
Add rank to a user
This action will add a specified rank to a user’s profile.
You'll specify the rank you want added to the contact profile when the trigger occurs.
Remove rank from a user
This action will remove a specified rank from a user when the set trigger is fired.
You’ll specify which ranks you want to be able to be removed.
Add user to a roster
This action will add a contact to a specific roster when the trigger is fired.
You can specify which roster(s) you want them to be added to after you select this action.
Remove user from a roster
This action will remove a user from the roster you specify when this trigger is fired.
For example, if you have a trial and member roster, when someone purchases a full membership (which is the trigger), the contact could be removed from the trial member roster.
Send email to person
This action will send an email to the contact in the system who initiated this trigger.
In the Subject, Preview and Message body fields you can use merge tags to pull specific values about the contact, like their name.
You’ll use “Send email to person” to send an email to a contact letting them know what to expect at their first class once they sign up for a trial, for example.
Send MMS to person
This action will send an MMS to the contact in the system who initiated this trigger. With this option you have the ability to upload and send an image to the contact.
For example, you could use “Send MMS to person” to send an automated Happy Birthday video to a contact on their birthday.
Send SMS to person
This action will send an SMS to the contact in the system who initiated this trigger.
In the Message field, you can use merge tags to pull specific values about the contact, like their name.
For example, you’d use “Send SMS to person” to send someone a text message if they haven’t attended class for X amount of time.
Add tag to person
This action will add a specific tag to the profile of the contact who initiated this trigger. You can specify which tag to add after you select this option.
For example, you’d use “add tag to person” if you want to add #kids-karate-monthly to a contact profile when they sign up for your Kids Karate Monthly membership.
Remove tag from person
This action will remove a specific tag from the profile of the contact who initiated this trigger. You can specify which tag to remove after you select this option.
For example, you’d select this trigger action if you want to remove the #kids-karate-trial tag from a contact profile when the contact purchases a membership.
Add a task to person
This action will automatically create a new task and assign it to the staff member you select.
For example, you could set a trigger that will create a task for sending a follow-up task whenever someone signs up for a new membership.
